(1) Engineering Support Technician
  • Male/Female
  • Graduate of technical course of 4 years minimum is required
  • Engineering course graduate is recommended
  • Good command of the English language (writing and speaking) is required
  • Advanced knowledge of power generation technology and specifically engineering processes is required
  • Basic project management and time management skills will be an advantage
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the power generation industry in a supervisory and management position
  • Good interpersonal, communication and motivational skills with a flexible, enthusiastic and committed attitude to work
  • Team player and willing to share knowledge
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent command in MS Office including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Develop, review and implementation of engineering documentation e.g. Procedures, standards, instructions
  • The incumbent will perform condition monitoring activities on site including vibration monitoring, thermography and tribology. Will record trends and anomalies and advise relevant engineering, maintenance and operating functions on appropriate corrective actions to be taken
  • Measure, record and report on plant performance indicators. Will advise on appropriate corrective actions in order to correct anomalies
  • Manage and control contracts with external service providers to the engineering function on site, this will include the scoping and being involved with negotiating contracts with external service providers
  • Perform investigations and root cause analysis on plant incidents and plant technical problems and advise on appropriate corrective actions from RCA process
  • Prepare plant performance reports
 
(1) Commissioning Specialist
  • Male/Female
  • Graduate of technical course is required
  • Engineering course graduate is an advantage
  • Good command of the English language (writing and speaking) is required
  • Advanced knowledge of power generation technology is required
  • Basic project management and time management skills will be an advantage
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in the power generation industry in a supervisory and management position
  • Good interpersonal, communication and motivational skills with a flexible, enthusiastic and committed attitude to work
  • Team player and willing to share knowledge
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent command in MS Office including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Manage the development, review and implementation of operating documentation e.g. Instructions, procedures, policies, check sheets etc. Related to all commissioning and re-commissioning activities
  • Keep all required staff authorizations current at all times. (inclusive)
  • Perform integrated risk assessments and mitigate the risks to reduce operating incidents
  • Coordinate and ensure the timeous functional testing of all mechanical, electrical and C & I systems with the different role players
  • Clearing permits and handover plant to operations department
  • Developing and managing a fully integrated plan for all the different projects related to de-commissioning and re-commissioning of the plant
  • Liaising with engineering, original manufactures of components or plants, contractors and operating personnel during commissioning or re-commissioning activities to ensure quality assurance and adherence to GNPD standards
  • Managing commissioning processes through the planning and scheduling of all activities prior to the outages
  • Compile programs and reports regarding particular plant outages and returns as required;
  • Identify gaps in staff competencies and recommend training interventions for improvement thereof
  • Give assurance of adherence to legislative requirements by incorporating these requirements in the commissioning and re-commissioning procedures and instructions utilized on the plant during these processes
 
(6) Operating Support Technician
  • Male/Female
  • Graduate of technical course is required
  • Engineering course graduate is an advantage
  • Good command of the English language (writing and speaking) is required
  • Advanced knowledge of power generation technology is required
  • Basic project management and time management skills will be an advantage
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in the power generation industry, (two) 2 years as control room operator; two (2 years in materials handling and (three) in a supervisory position
  • Must have prior experience in the preparation and issuing of permits to work on various plants
  • Good interpersonal, communication and motivational skills with a flexible, enthusiastic and committed attitude to work
  • Team player and willing to share knowledge
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent command in MS Office including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain all required staff authorizations current at all times; (inclusive)
  • Perform integrated risk assessments and mitigate the risks to reduce/eliminate operating incidents during the execution of high risk tasks;
  • Develop a daily work programmed in conjunction with the maintenance work schedule
  • Advise and control the commissioning of plant and systems
  • Investigate recurring operational problems
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary projects
  • Approve plant permits
  • Monitor the execution of the accepted 24-hour production targets for the power station taking into account plant availability, fuel deliveries, availability of water, special arrangements, unplanned maintenance, demand trends etc.
  • Conduct job observations with a view of identifying deviation from procedures, addressing non-conformances and perform staff coaching
  • Identify operating and production risks through the performance of risk assessments by involving subject matter experts to ensure that mitigation plans are executed accordingly
  • Report critical plant malfunctions to the shift superintendent and make recommendations
  • Monitor progress of critical activities, identify progress problems and report delays that are or cannot be addressed
  • Prepare and issue permits to work in accordance with the approved PTW system
  • Determine what plant should be isolated/de-isolated
  • Attend and actively participate in the statutory monthly safety meetings
  • Identify and manage she risks and requirements
  • Analyze incident investigation reports, identify deficiencies, and coordinate implementation of corrective action to prevent re-occurrence of the incident
  • Check that the plant is operated within specified limits and at optimum efficiency by carrying out frequent monitoring checks, recording such data and reporting non-conformances
 
(5) Power Plant Operator
  • Male/Female
  • Graduate of technical course is required
  • Engineering course graduate is an advantage
  • Good command of the English language (writing and speaking) is required
  • The incumbent must have proficient knowledge of power generation technology and in particular for the plant where he/she will be required to operate
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in the power generation industry (assistant plant operator and plant operator duties)
  • Good interpersonal, communication and motivational skills with a flexible, enthusiastic and committed attitude to work
  • Team player and willing to share knowledge
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent command in MS Office including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine plant inspections and report any defects or plant abnormalities to the control room operator or shift supervisor without delay
  • Operate plant in accordance with the plant operating technical specifications
  • Interpret alarms, analyze computer logs and alarm printouts
  • Identify deviation from standards, investigate and recommend and / or implement corrective actions
  • Perform manual operating, switching, isolation and de-isolation of 380v switchboards and lv/mv transformer
  • Monitor the 69kv switchyard, 230kv GIS switchyard and LV/MV/HV transformers and report any abnormalities and alarms to the control room operator and supervisor
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the hydrogen gas generation plant
  • Assists in the operation of baghouse, ash conveying, reverse osmosis plant, water treatment plant, industrial waste water treatment plant, electro-chlorination plant, energy recovery generators, fire-fighting system and auxiliary boiler
  • Read and interprets the facility P&ID
  • Performs emergency response activities as required
  • Performs general housekeeping functions as necessary
  • Coach new trainees in accordance with the curriculum as required
  • Always maintain the required authorizations to perform the current duties at all times
  • Hand over plant as per the approved shift changeover procedure
